The best phones also have the best cameras. The camera on the phone has become one of the important criteria by which users are guided when buying a new smartphone. And in recent years, the quality of cameras/videos on mobile phones has greatly increased. The advantage it offers the user is flexibility: you can choose different focal lengths for different perspectives of the same frame. And if you go on vacation, you no longer need to take your DSLR and lenses with you, you can capture the most beautiful photos with your phone. If you are passionate about street photography, you will have no regrets that you left the camera outside when you want to capture a unique moment.

The phones with the best cameras
When it comes to the best cameras on phones, the competition is fierce between smartphone manufacturers. With each new release, we see considerable improvements in the rear camera module, including affordable or mid-range phones, which have begun to include ultra-wide or telephoto lenses. The subjective factor also intervenes here: some prefer the more accentuated saturation in photos, as we see in the pictures taken with Samsung phones. Others prefer a stronger contrast or colors closer to reality, as offered by the iPhone or Google Pixel.

Samsung S21 Ultra 5G
Samsung S21 Ultra 5G was officially launched on January 14, 2021, the South Korean manufacturer brought the best specifications on the S21 range. The Samsung S21 Ultra 5G comes with a 64 MP main camera, just like the S20 Ultra, but the S21 Ultra can take 12-bit HDR photos and capture up to 64 times more color than the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The autofocus laser sensor could also eliminate any focus issues when shooting or taking pictures with your phone's cameras.

There is a 64 MP Telephoto camera, a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera and a 12 MP Wide-Angle camera. The telephoto cameras can zoom 30X, while the second telephoto camera offers 10X zoom and is capable of Space Zoom up to 100X. Samsung S21 Ultra 5G is capable of shooting 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 60 fps with all 5 cameras.

Apple iPhone 12
Apple launched in 2020 4 models from the iPhone 12 series. IPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 have identical cameras, two on the back, a normal 12MP sensor and an ultrawide 12MP. Both also have Night Mode, and the results obtained when taking photos in low light are excellent. iPhone 12 Pro also offers a telephoto sensor capable of 2X optical zoom, but also the LiDAR sensor, which improves autofocus. iPhone 12 Pro looks even better in photos in Portrait Mode, even in Night Mode.

However, the star of the series is iPhone 12 Pro Max with a larger sensor than the others, which improves performance in very low light conditions. One photo in Night Mode has a half-life of the other. And the telephoto camera is even better, 65mm, ie 2.5x optical zoom. iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max now have ProRaw mode for flexibility in post-processing.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro
Huawei's partnership with Leica has led the Chinese company to lead the smartphone makers in terms of the camera. And in 2020 they succeeded again: Mate 40 Pro + is on the first place in the DxO Mark ranking, at this moment, being followed by the smaller variant, Mate 40 Pro.

The main camera is 50MP with f / 1.9, the telephoto camera is periscope with 5X optical zoom, and the ultra-wide camera is 20MP with f / 1.8. And the results speak for themselves. In the tests made with Mate 40 Pro, Huawei's flagship copes with almost all chapters and manages to surpass them in some, when compared to competitors. The absence of the Google service suite is what prevents the phone from being the main recommendation of specialists.
Google Pixel 5
Without a doubt, Google has one of the most powerful camera software. This is because it is the weakest phone in terms of camera specifications, but the results obtained with this phone are at the level of rivals. The Pixel 5 has only two cameras, a 12.2MP main sensor with f / 1.7 and a 16MP ultrawide one. It doesn't have a telephoto sensor, but thanks to the software, zoom photos almost fool you: you're not saying it's an optical zoom, not a digital one.
OnePlus 8 Pro
Launched in April, OnePlus 8 Pro had the highest price for a company-produced phone. One reason is the camera that tries and manages to compete with other competitors. The main sensor is 48MP with f / 1.8, the top 48MP also has the ultrawide sensor (f / 2.2). The telephoto sensor is 8MP with a 3x optical zoom. In addition, there is a 5MP camera with color filter that can create interesting perspectives for creative users.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
Last but not least is the Xiaomi flagship. That is the next phone in the top DxO Mark after the Huawei flagship. The main sensor is 48MP with f / 1.9, but the interesting strategy is related to the way the zoom is managed. With two sensors, one 48MP periscope with 5x optical zoom and a normal 12MP with 2x optical zoom. Which makes the hybrid zoom 120X! The ultrawide sensor is 20MP with f / 2.2. The impressive rating given by DxO Mark is due to the versatility of the camera, the results being excellent from ultrawide to the limit of optical zoom.
